  5. Disinfection: The final step in the treatment process is disinfection. During this step, chemicals such as chlorine are added to kill any remaining bacteria or viruses that may be present in the water.

After these steps have been completed, the treated lake water is then stored in a reservoir before being distributed to homes and businesses.
